Congratulation Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono, M. Agr. Sc.

Toray Award – ITSF (Indonesian Science and Technology Foundation) as The Best Research 2007

The breakthroughs of his research study are establishment of Biological and Molecular characterization of cucurbit infecting Tobamovirus in Indonesia and Successful finding two new isolates of Kyuri Green Mottle Mosaic Virus and new isolate of Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus in Indonesia. This finding was enable scientist to detect the viruses accurately and rapidly by developed multiplex RT-PCR analysis. Moreover, the inheritance study of resistance to viral diseases has also successfully discovered two novel genes (Creb-2 and Prv-p) in melon and it leads to the development of melon resistance gene analogs for detection of virus resistance gene in melons. By using this basic knowledge, the author has successfully mapped the location of Creb-2 gene in melon and the application of its molecular markers for breeding of CMV resistant cultivars.
